Well it’s time for me to announce my top ten cars of the decade. I have tried to minimise the number of very expensive cars in this list, mainly because normal people like me can’t afford them. Some do have to get in the list though, I have allowed for cost to act as a pro and con when weighing up the cars position in the chart.

10. Rolls Royce Phantom – When Rolls Royce was taken over by Ze Germans, I though ‘oh no it can’t be true’. I never considered it would be a marriage made in heaven. The Rolls has kept its feel of total luxury and with it comes total quality. A blend of German efficiency and British brilliance, that has produced the best luxury car ever.

09. BMW Mini – The original Mini is a cult British classic and replacing it with a version to rival it was a tall order. BMW took the plans from Rover and made a cracking little car that has sold in vast numbers. It is great fun to drive and unlike its predecessor, it will not rot or break down.

08. Nissan GTR – The GTR is the most stunning piece of Japanese wizardry I have ever seen. Nissan along with Honda, Mitsubishi & Subaru have always been good at making computer added vehicles that simply astonish you with their superb grip and massive power outputs. This time Nissan have blown all previous milestones out of the water, if you can drive one, even for just a few minutes go and do it. The Nissan GTR will blow your mind!

07. Range Rover – Another Anglo/German mix here, the new Rangey is everything it’s predecessor should have been. The old Range Rover was a truly brilliant design, it had only one major flaw. It was build by the British and we mucked it up good and proper. Happily the new Range Rover doesn’t have that problem, the best luxury 4×4 ever.

06. Land Rover Discovery – Like its brother in at number 7 in our chart, the Disco is a real world beater. It combines the tractor like off road brilliance of the old agricultural Land Rover with luxury normally found in Range Rovers. Weather you want to climb a mountain or go to a premier the Disco will do it in style and comfort, the best 4×4 ever.

05. New Ford Fiesta – This will be a huge selling car, with people looking for ever smaller and greener cars the Fiesta ticks all the boxes. Well made, frugal, cheap, well specced and above all great to drive, the New Fiesta has it all. I know not the most interesting car in the world but all things considered, it deserves a place in our top 10.

04. Fiat 500 – The coolest car on the list by some way, the 500 is a car for all classes. The design is incredibly chic, fabulous to drive, affordable and in my eyes the best car Fiat has made since the Barchetta or Coupe. The Fiat 500 will be around for a long time yet. I know when a car is truly beautiful because my misses loves it as much as her MX-5.

03. Mazda MX-5 – The new Mazda MX-5 had the hardest job in the world, to live up to the old model, which is was biggest selling sports car of all time. The new MX-5 is a fantastic car, it does exactly the same as the old MX-5 and more. It is the best value rear wheel drive sports car ever and deserving of third spot in our chart.

02. Ford Focus – A1 supplies loads of these Focus’s and for good reason. The Ford is great to drive, well built, grown up, well specced and fantastic value for money. There is not a car in its class that can touch it. If you want the best all rounder, then the Focus is for you. Look past the badge, the Focus makes the Golf look over priced, over bloated and well over rated. Do your self a favour and go Ford.

01. Bugatti Veyron – Well to get in to the number one spot the car has to be special and this car is the very best ever. The Veyron is the Concorde of the road, a true peak in motoring excellence. Sometimes you just know that something doesn’t get any better. Audi are losing millions on each car and the Veyron is an exercise in engineering for them, to see how far they could push the envelope. Well Audi didn’t just push the envelope they tore it up and made new bench mark to which all other motors will be compared to, I just hope one day we see another car to rival it.
